Chickenfoot brings its summer tour back home as Miley Cyrus takes on the UK for the first time, as reported in TicketNews’s daily tour recap for June 5, 2009.

Rock supergroup Chickenfoot will try to conquer North American venues of a greater proportion on a new summer 2009 tour leg. Meanwhile, Miley Cyrus is heading abroad this winter to headline her first batch of concerts in the UK and Ireland in late December.

In other concert news, AEG Live execs have confirmed that Michael Jackson will perform all 50 dates of his scheduled London residency despite tabloid speculation that the King of Pop is none too please about the massive booking. In the States, meantime, speculation is brewing about where Paul McCartney will play after Citi Field, and Boston-area insiders are suspecting Fenway is on the legend’s list for August. Finally, New York City will play host to the first Mandela Day event, which features live performances by Dave Stewart, Aretha Franklin and more.

The Pretenders, set to complete a tour of Europe in June and July, will head back across the Atlantic in August for a 21-city tour of North America. The jaunt begins August 4-5 at Casino Rama Entertainment Centre in Rama, ON, and continues through September 4 at The Show at Agua Caliente in Rancho Mirage, CA. Stops along the way include an August 10 performance at the Central Park SummerStage in New York, NY, an August 14 show at Warner Theatre in Washington, DC, an August 18 gig at Aragon Ballroom in Chicago, IL, an August 26 stop at Malkin Bowl in Vancouver, BC, and a September 3 concert at Greek Theatre in Los Angeles, CA.

Elvis Costello has nearly 30 concerts booked this summer to promote his latest studio album. A couple new dates have cropped up on his itinerary for the U.S. and Canada. The trek picks up June 9 at Count Basie Theatre in Red Bank, NJ, and continues on and off through September 3 at Cain’s Ballroom in Tulsa, OK. The acclaimed performer has two recently confirmed shows added to the mix with a July 8 performance at the Winnipeg Folk Festival at Birds Hill Park in Winnipeg, MB, and an August 15 concert at Deer Valley Resort Snow Park Outdoor Amphitheater in Park City, UT.

Pet Shop Boys are hitting local shores for a 17-city tour of the U.S. and Canada. The trek launches August 29 at Metropolis in Montreal, QC, and wraps September 24 at Green Theatre in Los Angeles, CA. The ’80s rockers have two double-night engagements booked during the run on September 1-2 at Hammerstein Ballroom in New York, NY, and September 22-23 at Warfield Theatre in San Francisco, CA. Other stops during the one-month run include a September 5 concert at the House of Blues in Boston, MA, a September 14 concert at the Chicago Theatre in Chicago, IL, and a September 19 gig at the Centre in Vancouver for Performing Arts in Vancouver, BC.

Asleep at the Wheel is alert and ready to go for a nearly 50-date tour that continues tonight, June 5, at Royal Bay Restaurant & Convention Center in Grove, OK. Monthly bookings are lined up for the group’s 2009 itinerary through a November 7 concert at Four Seasons Arena in Great Falls, MT, and another performance has even cropped up for January 30, 2010, at Chandler Center for the Arts in Chandler, AZ. In the meantime, Asleep at the Wheel will roll across the U.S. for performances including a June 6 show at Cain’s Ballroom in Tulsa, OK, a June 26 concert at Whiskey Dick’s in El Paso, TX, an August 13-15 stand at Spencer Theater in Alto, NM, and a September 1 gig at B.B. King Blues Club in New York, NY.

The Honorary Title has booked a loose 17-date tour across the U.S. for late summer and early fall. The outing kicks off on August 19 at the Music Hall of Williamsburg in Brooklyn, NY, and continues through October 4 at Vibe Lounge in Rockville Centre, NY. The tour bus will pull over for performances on August 20 at Maxwell’s in Hoboken, NY; August 28 at Vinyl at Center Stage in Atlanta, GA; September 8 at Emo’s in Austin, TX; September 16 at The Boardwalk in Seattle, WA; September 26 at Reggie’s Rock Club in Chicago, IL; and October 3 at Harpers Ferry in Allston, MA, among other dates.

Castanets have booked themselves into a 26-date summer tour. The national venture launched July 3 at Schubas Tavern in Chicago, IL, after a supporting stint with Explosions in the Sky on June 30 at Central Park SummerStage in New York, NY. The tour continues through August 3 at Worksound in Portland, OR, and includes stops on July 8 at Middle East Upstairs in Cambridge, MA; July 10 at Cake Shop in New York, NY; July 19 at The Basement in Nashville, TN; July 24 at The Mohawk in Austin, TX; and July 30 at Spaceland in Los Angeles, CA. Venues have not been confirmed yet for a July 12 show in Philadelphia, PA, and a July 26 gig in Albuquerque, NM.
