Voodoo Experience is a multi-day music and arts festival in New Orleans and is often referred to as the Voodoo Fest. It usually takes place Halloween weekend but has been the weekend before Halloween. Voodoo Experience has hosted over 450 artists and has been nominated twice for Pollstar’s Music Festival of the Year. The 2009 festival headlined Kiss, Eminem, Jane’s Addiction, Lenny Kravitz, Widespread Panic and The Flaming Lips.
The festival started in 1999 as a one day music festival with about 8,000 attendees. In 2007, the festival expanded to 3 days and broke all previous attendance records with about 100,000 attendees.
Voodoo Experience, Bumbershoot, other U.S. festivals unveil 2011 lineups
The 2011 festival season is heating up. In recent days, headliners and side stage acts have been unveiled for several U.S. music extravaganzas booked for later in the year.
This week's five lineup announcements run the gamut from time-tested festivals to relative newcomers, with artist bills of all genres and sizes. Booked into the months of September and October, all can expect to see stiff competition for festival-goers' dollars, particularly from the season's established marquee events: Austin City Limits Music Festival (September 16-18), and CMJ Music Marathon (October 18-22).
Voodoo Experience snags Muse, Ozzy Osbourne, Weezer as 2010 festival headliners
Now entering its 12th year, the New Orleans-based Voodoo Experience music festival has unveiled the lineup for Halloween weekend 2010. At the top of the billing for the October 29-31 event are Muse, Ozzy Osbourne and Weezer.
The three-day festival will once again set down in City Park, with 50 artists already confirmed for the event's three performance areas: main stage Le Ritual, and side stages Le Carnival and Le Flambeau.
Voodoo Experience returns to New Orleans for Halloween weekend
The 11th annual Voodoo Experience returns to New Orleans, LA, in 2009 for Halloween weekend, October 30 to November 1. Headline acts are Eminem, KISS, Jane’s Addiction, Widespread Panic and The Flaming Lips.
The three-day event in the Crescent City's City Park will feature over 150 performing acts alongside the city's bohemian culture, arts and cuisine. For a limited time, three-day weekend tickets are $169 with no additional fees; LOA Lounge VIP passes are $475 with no additional fees and are available via Ticketmaster.
Voodoo Experience planned for another Halloween weekend
The 11th annual Voodoo Experience returns again on Halloween weekend, from October 30 through November 1, in New Orleans' historic City Mark. The 2009 event marks the third time the three-day music fest coincides with Halloween.
Last year's event included performances from hometown Grammy winner Lil Wayne, Nine Inch Nails, Stone Temple Pilots, R.E.M. and more than 130 acts. Details for this year's line-up and ticketing information will be announced in the coming months.
Voodoo Experience still a go despite Hurricane Gustav
With New Orleans safe, despite the dire predictions about Hurricane Gustav, producers of the Voodoo Experience, one of the most enduring large-scale music festivals in America, are preparing full thrust for the event's 10th anniversary, October 24-26 in New Orleans’ historic and picturesque City Park.
R.E.M., Nine Inch Nails and Stone Temple Pilots are the headliners over the three nights. The full line-up for the 2008 Voodoo Experience now encompasses more than 130 acts, including Lil Wayne, The Mars Volta, N*E*R*D, TV On The Radio, Irma Thomas, Ben Jelen, Fishbone and others.
Voodoo Experience adds to line-up
Death Cab for Cutie, Wyclef Jean, Panic at the Disco, Joss Stone, Dashboard Confessional and Erykah Badu have been added to the Voodoo Experience in New Orleans, LA October 24-26. R.E.M., Nine Inch Nails and Stone Temple Pilots were previously announced.
More than 90 acts will highlight a milestone for the event -- its 'Tenth Ritual' --marking a celebration of 10 years of music as well as New Orleans' bohemian culture, arts and cuisine in New Orleans' historic and scenic City Park. There will be three distinct performance areas--Le Ritual, Le Flambeau and Le Carnival-- and six stages each highlighting a unique history of the Big Easy.
