May 4 was Judgment Day for Roger Waters fans who registered for a chance to participate in this week’s ticket presales.
Presale eligibility was handled lottery style in each North American market on the rocker’s upcoming The Wall Live 2010 tour. Registered fans were able to enter their name into the presale lotteries for up to five cities. Drawing confirmations were sent just after midnight on May 4, with some registered fans receiving consolatory e-mails while others were greeted with a more welcoming “Congratulations!”
Presales for the tour begin on Waters’ official Web site tomorrow, May 5, for select dates of the tour. Public onsales officially open May 10.
Most markets on the tour will offer tickets priced within the $55 to $200 range, while some are priced up to $250, according to current event listings on Ticketmaster.com.
Individuals selected to participate in the presale were given a unique link to purchase one pair of tickets. The e-mail featured the following reminder, bold text included:
Your selection does not guarantee that you will receive tickets, only the opportunity to participate in a limited presale. Orders will be accepted on a first-come, first-served basis as of the designated presale start time. Also note that your selection is non-transferrable, non-reusable and will work only for the members to which they are assigned.
Though presales are still a day away, the presale links are active and offer a glimpse at how the system will work. Presale orders will be limited to a pair of tickets, and participants will be given a choice of pricing tiers from which to make their selection.
For example, presale tickets to the Hartford performance are split into two price tiers.
Tickets in Floor 1-7 and Sections 104, 105 and 114 at the XL Center are available for $202 per ticket, plus a $10 service charge and $8 transaction fee on each ticket, bringing the total for the pair to $440.
The second pricing tier in Hartford covers Sections 119-224, 203-204, and 215-216. Reserved tickets in any of those sections run $128 each, plus a $13 service charge and $5 transaction fee, totaling $292 for the pair.
So far 35 concert dates have been announced for Waters’ latest live recreation of Pink Floyd’s seminal double-album “The Wall.” Waters last performed the album in its entirety in 1990 to commemorate its 10th anniversary. He is revisiting the material on his solo tour in commemoration of its 30th anniversary.
