If you want to see guitarist Carlos Santana perform west of the Mississippi River through 2010, the only place will be at the Joint at the Hard Rock Hotel & Casino in Las Vegas, NV, starting on May 27. Santana has signed a multi-year deal with AEG Live to perform about 36 concerts per year in the residency “Supernatural Santana: A Trip through the Hits.”

Confirmed Santana residency dates at The Joint at the Hard Rock Hotel are: May 27-28, 30-31; June 3-4, 6-7, 10-11, 13-14; August 26-27, 29-30; and September 2, 4-6. Ticket prices range from $79 through $299 and can be purchased at the Hard Rock Hotel Box Office and through Ticketmaster.

AEG Live has done previous residency deals with Celine Dion, Cher, Elton John and Bette Midler at the Colosseum at Caesars Palace in Las Vegas. However, Santana is the first rock and roll resident in Las Vegas.

“Bringing Santana to The Joint at Hard Rock elevates the entertainment options in Las Vegas,” said John Meglen, president and co-CEO of AEG Live/ Concerts West in a statement. “AEG Live set the standard for major residency shows in Vegas with Celine, Elton, Cher and Bette over at The Colosseum, and now we are setting the standard for rock and roll residencies with this new deal.”

“Because I still live the principles of the 1960s, and because I’m a hippie at heart, ‘A Trip through the Hits’ is designed to bring everyone in the audience together as one,” Santana added. “We’ll mix up a little practical spirituality with a rebel-from-the-street vibe, and with lots of incredible music.”
