Alice Cooper’s latest U.S. trek and a few UK news items top the daily tour recap for August 25, as compiled by TicketNews.
Rock veteran Alice Cooper is just a few weeks away from bringing his Theatre of Death show to U.S. cities on a six-week tour leg. The venture will hit more than 20 markets across the country, playing classics from Cooper’s music catalogue and “killing” his character on stage multiple times a night.
Music fans in the UK have been experiencing some ups and downs over the past week. First, it has been confirmed that a Michael Jackson memorabilia tour will originate at the O2 Arena in London before moving on to a couple additional markets. The good news ends there, though. British rock group Oasis was forced to cancel its headline performance at this year’s V Festival at Hylands Park in Chelmsford, ENG, when singer Liam Gallagher experienced a bout of viral laryngitis. He is expected to recover in time for the band to finish its remaining tour dates, though.

Saving Abel have announced plans for a late fall headlining tour. The 20-city trek begins October 27 at Scout Bar in San Antonio, TX, and ends November 28 at Crocodile Rock Café in Allentown, PA. Along the way, the rockers will stop for concerts on October 30 at Midland Theatre in Kansas City, MO; November 7 at the House of Blues in Chicago, IL; November 14 at the Fillmore in Detroit, MI; and November 21 at Starland Ballroom in Sayreville, NJ.
Daniel Johnston has outlined a 14-date North American tour, which will begin September 3 at Wonder Ballroom in Portland, OR. From there, the celebrated singer-songwriter will continue across the U.S. and Canada before wrapping on October 24 at the Music Box in Los Angeles, CA. Other concerts are slated for September 5 at Venue in Vancouver, BC; October 2 at the Austin City Limits Music Festival in Austin, TX; October 14 at HighLine Ballroom in New York, NY; and October 17 at The Mod Club Theatre in Toronto, ON.
Medeski, Martin & Wood have two sets of U.s. tour legs lined up for September and November. The first round of concerts is booked from September 6 at Traffic Jam Festival in Baltimore, MD, through September 20 at The Orange Peel in Asheville, NC. The musical trio will then make a solitary appearance on October 2 at the Austin City Limits Music Festival in Austin, TX, before beginning its second batch of shows on November 12 at Mass MoCA in North Adams, MA, and concluding November 21 at the House of Blues in Chicago, IL.
Lyle Lovett is gearing up for a fall headline tour of the U.S. and Canada, which will follow some early October concerts with John Hiatt. The musician’s latest jaunt will launch October 26 at Lucher Theater in Orange, TX, and continue across the country through a two-date closer on November 24-25 at Bass Performance Hall in Ft. Worth, TX. Lovett’s other itinerary highlights are shows on October 28 at Leon County Civic Center in Tallahassee, FL; November 7 at Klein Memorial Auditorium in Bridgeport, CT; and November 22 at Majestic Theatre in San Antonio, TX.
David Foster has a brief series of fall concerts on the horizon. The Canadian singer-songwriter hits the road October 21 at Rosemont Theatre in Chicago, IL, and continues on his way through November 8 at General Motors Place in Vancouver, BC. Additional gigs are set for October 23 at WaMu Theater in New York, NY; October 24 at Prudential Center in Newark, NJ; October 28 at Fox Theatre in Atlanta, GA; and November 5 at Gibson Amphitheatre at Universal City Walk in Los Angeles, CA, among other dates.
Cold will continue marching through its 2009 tour schedule, which includes a few more recent additions. The venture has more than 20 upcoming dates to its name and picks up August 27 at Piere’s Entertainment Center in Ft. Wayne, IN. Performances continue through October 1 at The Bottling Co. in Hattiesburg, MS, and include shows on September 3 at Phoenix Hill Tavern in Louisville, KY; September 8 at Emerson Theater in Indianapolis, In; September 15 at Blender Theatre at Gramercy in New York, NY; September 22 at The Masquerade in Atlanta, GA; and September 28 at Scout Bar in San Antonio, TX.
The Bouncing Souls have added another leg to their fall 2009 North American tour. The first leg of the venture starts September 23 at Les FouFounes Electriques in Montreal, QC, and concludes October 7 at Rickshaw in Vancouver, BC. The next batch of performances starts up a couple weeks later on October 21 at Neumos in Seattle, WA, and ends November 7 at The Majestic in Detroit, MI. Some of the other most recent additions are performances on October 23-24 at Slim’s in San Francisco, CA, and October 30-31 at El Rey Theatre in Los Angeles, CA.
Great Lake Swimmers just announced additional dates for their fall headline tour. The indie rock group will be on the road from September 24 at Higher Ground in South Burlington, VT, through the new tour end-date of October 30 at the Ladies Literary Club in Grand Rapids, MI. The fall itinerary features performances on September 27 at Bowery Ballroom in New York, NY; October 5 at The Square Room in Knoxville, TN; October 16 at Crocodile Café in Seattle, WA; October 21 at Larimer Lounge in Denver, CO; and October 29 at a to-be-announced venue in South Bend, IN.
