Canadian rocker Avril Lavigne has been given the green light to go ahead with her August 29 concert in Kuala Lumpur at the Stadium Merdeka.

Original reports suggested that the performance was canceled by the conservative Malaysian government, which deemed the singer’s image “too sexy.”

Also at issue was the fact that the singer’s Best Damn Tour concert was scheduled only two days before the country’s Independence Day celebration.

However, this past week, Lavigne told MTV News her show will go on. “I’ve actually been approved by the government to play a show,” Lavigne stated. “I’ve already sold 10,000 tickets there, so I will be going to put a concert on for the fans.”
