Since its founding in 1996, the annual SnoCore Tour has primarily been a winter event, celebrating the lifestyle and culture of seasonal sports such as skiing and snowboarding. However, after taking a break from the circuit last year, the touring festival is breaking new ground with a spring jaunt.

Metal groups Static-X and Saliva will headline the 29-city trek, which launches April 1 at Sunshine Theatre in Albuquerque, NM, and concludes May 9 at New Oasis in Reno, NV. Burn Halo and The Flood will also appear as supporting acts on all dates of the tour.

The lineup will perform in markets from coast to coast during the month-long tour. Highlights include an April 7 event at the Palladium in Dallas, TX, an April 17 show at Starland Ballroom in Sayreville, NJ, an April 27 concert at the House of Blues in Chicago, IL, and a May 6 event at Grand Ballroom in San Francisco, CA.

The California-based industrial metal band Static-X is touring behind its sixth studio album, “Cult of Static,” which just hit store shelves on March 17. The record is a follow-up to 2007’s “Cannibal,” an effort that hit No. 36 on the Billboard 200.

“Our sound is always evolving. This record has a lot more depth to it. On ‘Cannibal,’ I tried to simplify things more, and on this album, I didn’t worry about that so much,” described frontman Wayne Static in a statement on the Static-X Web site. “I went back to layering the music and making it moodier. It’s just as heavy as the last record is, but it’s bigger.”

Saliva is also touring in support of its sixth studio album. The album “Cinco Diablo,” released in December 2008, hit No. 104 on the Billboard 200. Its predecessor, 2007’s “Blood Stained Love Story,” reached a peak of No. 19 on the charts.
