NASCAR makes a push for greater fan engagement
NASCAR has announced several changes for the 2013 season in regards to the Sprint Cup Series. Perhaps the biggest change will come with the official debut of the new "Gen 6" racecar, which after implementation, could lead to even more rule changes throughout the course of the season.
After two years of development, and some testing last season, the "Gen 6" (short for Generation 6) car will be unveiled at Daytona in February. The 2013 model was designed with manufacturer identity in mind – meaning the racecars will more closely resemble streetcars. As a way of increasing driver identity, drivers' last names will be placed on the front windshields.

NHL cancels more games including 2013 All-Star Game
The NHL has lost nearly 35 percent of its regular season after it cancelled all games through December 14, including the All-Star game, the league announced Friday.
The 2013 All-Star Game was scheduled to be held in Columbus, Ohio on January 27. This would have marked the first time that the Blue Jackets organization hosted the event. With 422 games already lost in the 2012-2013 NHL season even if an agreement was reached in the near future the All-Star Game would likely remain cancelled. NHL deputy commissioner Bill Daly stated that the NHL will "work closely with the Blue Jackets organization to return the NHL All-Star events to Columbus and their fans as quickly as possible," as reported by The Huffington Post.
Barclays Center hosts fifth annual Legends Classic
The Legends Classic featuring Georgetown, UCLA, Georgia, and the top ranked Indiana Hoosiers takes place today and tomorrow at the newly opened Barclays Center in Brooklyn, New York. Games begin at 5:30 p.m. EST.

Marlins and Blue Jays make 12-player swap
On Tuesday, November 13, an anonymous source involved with the two MLB teams announced a huge trade between the Miami Marlins and the Toronto Blue Jays that will include 12 players. The announcement comes less than a year after the Marlins moved to a new, publicly funded ballpark, an occasion that the team complemented with a $191 million splurge on high-profile talent.
For their spending binge in early 2012, the Marlins acquired All-Star shortstop Jose Reyes, left-hander Mark Buehrle, and closer Heath Bell. Since the move and rebranding, the Marlins’ onfield results have not lived up to expectations. Despite high hopes, they finished last in the National League’s East division. The Marlins had a projected attendance of almost 3 million for this past season, but only drew in just over 2.2 million fans. Team officials have partly blamed the poor attendance on ex-manager Ozzie Gullen’s inflammatory comments regarding Fidel Castro. Revenue also fell short of projections, and to compensate, owners began paring down the salary in July. At that time the Marlins parted with several players, including Hanley Ramirez and Anibal Sanchez; high-profile closer Heath Bell was traded to the Arizona Diamondbacks in October.

The Chase will come to an end on Sunday, November 18 when the NASCAR Sprint Cup Series visits Homestead-Miami Speedway for the Ford EcoBoost 400.
Brad Keselowski enters the finale in the driver's seat with a 20-point lead over five-time champion Jimmie Johnson. In order to clinch his first NASCAR Sprint Cup Series title, Keselowski must finish 15th or better. He can finish 16th so long as he leads one lap, or finish 17th and lead the most laps and still secure the title, regardless of Johnson's performance.
