Born on January 17, 1971, Robert James Ritchie, better known by his stage name Kid Rock, is an American rapper and singer-songwriter who became famous in 1998 with his first hit record “Devil Without a Cause”. This album sold 11 million copies and encompassed hit singles “Bawitdaba,” “Cowboy,” and “Only God Knows Why.” He then released the album “The History of Rock” in 2000 with the hit single “American Bad Ass,” followed by the album “Cocky” in 2001 with hit single “Picture” featuring Sheryl Crow. He has sold 22 million albums to date in the U.S., which currently ranks him as the 99th best selling music artist of all time in the United States.

Kid Rock and Lynyrd Skynyrd went on their Rock and Rebels Tour from June 26, 2009 to August 2, 2009. Kid Rock, backed by his 11-piece Twister Brown Trucker Band supported his hit record, “Rock N Roll Jesus,” which topped the Billboard 200 following its release in October of 2007. The band suffered the loss of their longtime keyboardist Billy Powell in early 2009, who died at the age of 56. The group recently signed a new record deal and will produce a new album in late 2009.
