Alternative rock band, The Killers, recently announced a brief North American tour to close out 2012. The tour will begin on November 29 in Colorado and it will wrap up a month later on December 29 in Las Vegas, NV. The North American dates are the middle portion of The Killers world tour, which will visit the United Kingdom prior and finish off in Australia at Big Day Out.

The Killers announcement came just as their newest album “Battle Born” hit shelves on September 18. “Battle Born,” released with Island Records, is the band’s fourth full length studio album. While first week figures have yet to be released in the United States, according to Billboard.com, the album is seeing success in the United Kingdom debuting at No. 1, in front of fellow American P!nk. The first single off the album, “Runaways,” is seeing success on Billboard‘s Alternative Songs chart, currently in at No. 7.

In support of their album release, The Killers scheduled two performances ahead of the tour announcement. As a part of American Express: Unstaged the band performed at New York City’s Paradise Theatre on September 18. Following this performance the band headed up to Toronto for a show at the Sound Academy on September 22.

The Killers — Dave Keuning (guitarist), Ronnie Vannucci Jr. (drummer), Mark Stoermer (bassist), and Brandon Flowers (lead singer/keyboardist) — formed back in 2002 in Las Vegas, NV. Since then the band has gone on to produce four highly acclaimed albums including their first, “Hot Fuss.” According to Rolling Stone, the album sold three million copies in the U.S. and yielded a total of five singles including mega hits “Mr. Brightside” and “Somebody Told Me.”

Their follow-up album “Sam’s Town,” was released in 2006, and climbed to No. 14 on the Billboard 100 chart, Rolling Stone further states. It included the songs “When You Were Young” and “Read My Mind.” Their third album “Day & Age” was released in 2008 and peaked at No. 6 on Billboard 200 and No. 1 on the Alternative Albums chart.

In 2010, The Killers took a break to allow time for work on their separate projects. During the hiatus, lead singer Brandon Flowers released a solo album titled “Flamingo.” Their recently released album “Battle Born” is the first album since the band reunited.

Joining The Killers on tour as the supporting act is indie duo Tegan and Sara. The identical twin sisters from Canada have made a name for themselves on the indie circuit, and have an upcoming album, “Heartthrob,” scheduled for release in January 2013. Tegan and Sara released “Closer” the lead single off the album this week and Broadwayworld.com is calling it “the best output of twin sisters Quin’s thirteen year career.” Before heading out on tour with The Killers, Tegan and Sara will be performing a couple headlining shows, making a stop at Austin City Limits, and touring with The Black Keys.

Presale tickets for the upcoming concert were offered to “The Victims,” The Killers official fan club, prior to the staggered public onsales, which started Friday, September 21. For further information about The Killers 2012 tour visit their website at www.TheKillersMusic.com.
