The Police tour, which was recently named Billboard’s top worldwide tour for 2007, was also named the top domestic tour of the year by Pollstar. U.S. revenues were $131.9 million for The Police, almost double the amount of the second highest-grossing domestic tour by Kenny Chesney, who grossed $71.1 million. The Hannah Montana/Miley Cyrus tour came in strong at number 15 with $36 million. Cyrus was the only new artist in the chart whereas most of them are veterans with decades of touring.

Barry Manilow had the top average ticket price at $141.72 of the acts in the Top 20, with Celine Dion a close second at $141.26 per ticket. Dave Matthews had the lowest average ticket price in the Top 20 at $47.80, followed by Toby Keith at $49.41. The Police’s average ticket price was $114.32.

The long-awaited reunion of Sting, Andy Summers and Stewart Copeland earned their haul over 54 shows, and along with Chesney were the only act to sell more than 1 million tickets domestically.

Pollstar started with over 90 percent of the tour box office sales information on the Top 20 acts (100 percent on 15 of them) and then made estimates for any missing tour data.
