Yankee Stadium jumps to the No. 1 position
Yankee Stadium has sat comfortably at the No. 3 position for the past two weeks, but with the NBA Finals over with after a Miami Heat win, the top position in TicketNews' exclusive venue rankings now belongs to the Bronx Bombers.
After ending the second Subway Series at Citi Field on June 24, the Yankees returned home for a full week homestand. First up the Yanks took on the Cleveland Indians and pulled off a sweep. Going into the weekend the Chicago White Sox visited the Bronx and split the series 2-2.
Justin Bieber regains control of Top Events Rankings
After losing his three week hold on TicketNews' exclusive events rankings list to The Book of Mormon last week, Justin Bieber has stormed back to the No. 1 position for the week ending June 24, 2012.
Adding to the already overwhelming craze behind Justin Bieber's sold out 2012 Believe Tour — which kicks off this September — was the release of his second full length album "Believe" which hit store shelves Tuesday, June 19. The much anticipated 13 track album contains collaborations with heavy hitters from the hip-hop world — Drake, Big Sean, Ludacris, and Nicki Minaj. The album's second single, after "Boyfriend," was confirmed today, June 26, by Island Def Jam to Billboard to be "As Long as You Love Me" which features the rapper Big Sean. Billboard reports that the album is on course for the biggest debut sales week of the year.
American Airlines Arena remains No. 1 venue thanks to the NBA Finals
With the NBA Finals in full swing, the American Airlines Arena, home to the Eastern Conference champion Miami Heat, held court in the No. 1 position for the second consecutive week in TicketNews' exclusive venue rankings.
The Heat currently hold a two games to one lead over the Oklahoma City Thunder with two more games remaining at the American Airlines Arena later this week. Although the NBA Finals were the driving force to get the arena to top of the rankings, upcoming concerts also played a role.
Justin Bieber continues reign over Top Events Rankings
Justin Bieber secures the No. 1 postion atop TicketNews' exclusive event rankings list for the third consecutive week. Three weeks after announcing the tour dates to his upcoming 2012 Believe Tour, which is scheduled to begin this September, the fan excitement — "Bieber Fever" — is still in full swing. MTV reported that all 45 North American tour dates had sold out in less than an hour after going on sale to the general public. Those who weren’t able to secure tickets in that first hour have now turned to the secondary ticket market for their Bieber tickets.
Celtics playoff games, Justin Bieber help make TD Garden top venue
With the NBA Eastern Conference Finals heating up, basketball fans helped push the TD Garden in Boston, MA, into the No. 1 position this week in TicketNews' exclusive venues rankings.
The Garden is home to the Boston Celtics, who are currently battling the Miami Heat for the right to go to the NBA Finals. The Celtics have won the last two games at the Garden, to even the series at two games apiece. The series now shifts to the American Airlines Arena in Miami (at No. 4 in the rankings) for Game 5 before returning to Boston for Game 6.
Justin Bieber jumps to No. 1 in Top Events Rankings
Justin Bieber surprised his fans last week with an announcement of his highly anticipated 2012 Believe Tour. His dedicated fans' showed their support by gobbling up pre-sale tickets. Thanks to those fans flocking for tickets, Bieber jumped to the top of TicketNews' Top Events Rankings for the week ending May 27.
The tour is in support of the singer's fourth studio album of the same name, which is scheduled to be released on June 19. It kicks-off at the Jobing.com Arena in Glendale, AZ on September 29 and is scheduled to end on January 26, 2013 at the American Airlines Arena in Miami, FL.
Brooklyn's Barclays Center sits atop venues rankings months before opening
The Barclays Center in Brooklyn, NY, which has yet to open doors, made its debut last week at the No. 1 position on TicketNews' exclusive venues rankings and held on to the top spot for a second consecutive week with the help of some big name events.
The Barclays Center is set to open doors on September 28, with a performance by Jay-Z, who is part-owner of the Brooklyn Nets (formerly the New Jersey Nets) who will be calling the Barclays Center home with the start of the NBA season. The venue will seat 18,000 for basketball games and up to 19,000 for concerts.
2012 American Idol Live Tour tops events rankings this week
Making an impressive debut onto TicketNews' exclusive event rankings this week is the American Idol Live Tour, taking over the No. 1 spot after announcing the tour dates and locations just last week.
The tour features this seasons' top 10 finalists from the popular television show which has helped launched the careers of popular artists including: Fantasia Barrino, Kelly Clarkson Scotty McCreery and Adam Lambert. Although the American Idol season finale will air on Fox on May 23, the summer tour gives fans the opportunity to see their favorites perform in concert.
Hollywood Bowl makes strong seasonal debut in venues rankings
Making its debut on TicketNews' exclusive rankings this week is the Hollywood Bowl, the largest outdoor amphitheater in the United States. The popular outdoor venue leapt to No. 3 in the rankings, thanks in part to the May 5 release of individual tickets to the 2012 summer concert schedule.
Some of the upcoming featured acts scheduled to appear at the bowl this summer season include The Beach Boys on June 2, Glen Campbell on June 24-26, July 4th Fireworks Spectaculars on July 2-5 with special guest Barry Manilow, and popular Grammy Award winning guitarist Juanes is scheduled to perform at the venue on Aug. 17-18.
The Clockwork Angels tour from Rush jumps into Top Events Rankings
After tickets to their recently announced North American tour went on sale last week, rock legends Rush catapulted into the TicketNews' Top Events Rankings, finishing the week at No. 6.
The Clockwork Angels tour will be in support of the bands upcoming 20th studio album of the same name. The album will feature music from the bands first new collection of material in more than five years.
