Super Bowl LI takes control of the rankings

Taking control of TicketNews exclusive event rankings and grabbing the No. 1 spot this week is the Super Bowl. This year’s game marks the 51st since its inception and will be held on February 5 at the NRG Stadium in Houston. The game will played between the AFC champions, The New England Patriots and the NFC champions, The Atlanta Falcons. The Patriots have been to the Super Bowl 9 times with 4 wins and The Falcons have played in the Super Bowl twice and hopes to get their first ring this Sunday.

Taking the No. 2 position this week and also new to the rankings this week is heavy metal band Iron Maiden who will kick off a tour with Ghost on June 2 Bristow. The tour will wrap on July 21 and other cities on the tour include: Philadelphia, Newark, Charlotte, Tampa, Nashville, Tinley Park, Saint Paul, Oklahoma City, Houston, Dallas, San Antonio, Albuquerque, Phoenix, San Bernardino, Las Vegas, Oakland, West Valley City, Lincoln, Kansas City, Maryland Heights, Toronto, Quebec and Mansfield.

Legendary singer, songwriter Rod Stewart who’s set to kick of a tour with pop icon Cyndi Lauper on July 6 in Hollywood landed in the No. 7 spot this week’s rankings. The tour will wrap on August 12, and other city stops include: Tampa, Tuscaloosa, Camden, Bangor, Mansfield, Wantagh, Bristow Bethel, Saratoga, Holmdel Cuyahoga Falls, Canandaigua, Clarkston, Cincinnati, Tinley Park, Grand Prairie and Sugar Land.

Another new event in the rankings this week is rock band Journey with opening band Asia who rounded out the rankings in the No. 10 spot. The tour kicks off March 13 in Yakima and will wrap in El Paso July 15. Other cities include: , Eugene, Boise, Fargo , Lincoln, Madison, Evansville, Moline, Dayton, Tulsa, New Orleans, Greenville, Greensboro, Baltimore, Uncasville, Worcester, Mount Pleasant, Toledo, Huntington, Louisville, Welch, Springfield, Southaven, Orange Beach, Bossier City and Sugar Land.

The Ringling Bros. and Barnum & Bailey Circus landed in No. 3 spot this week down from last week’s No. 2 while newly added shows landed Garth Brooks and Trisha Yearwood in the No. 4 spot. The Monster Jam truck tour retained its No. 5 spot from last week while the U2 & Lumineers tour dates landed in the No. 6 spot down from last week’s No. 1. Theatre favorite Hamilton, was back in the top 10 this week in the No. 8 position while Luke Bryan & Brett Eldredge managed to nab the No. 9 spot.

United Supermarkets Arena makes a new appearance in the rankings

Getting some help from dedicated Garth Brook & Trisha Yearwood fans, The United Supermarkets Arena, located in Lubbock, made into the No. 3 spot in this week’s rankings. The duo recently added five shows to their tour, which will be held at the arena on March 30 – 31 and April 1- 2. Other shows set to be held at the multi-purpose arena include: Texas Tech Red Raiders home games, Cirque Du Soleil, Sesame Street and Chris Tomlin.

Also new to the rankings this week is the Amalie arena in Tampa which landed in the No. 6 spot. Besides the Tampa Bay Lighting home games other events happening at the multi-purpose arena include: Disney On Ice, The Chainsmokers, Neil Diamond, Red Hot Chili Peppers, 98 Rockfest, Erich Church Tom Petty And The Heartbreakers, The Weeknd, Lionel Richie & Richie Carey, Iron Maiden U& Ghost, Roger Waters, New Kids On The Block, Paula Abdul, & Boyz II Men, Shawn Mendes, Bruno Mars and Tim McGraw & Faith Hill.

Retaining its No. 2 position from last week is the NRG Arena in Houston, where the upcoming Super Bowl 51 is being held on February 5. Other events being held at the stadium, include: Monster Jam, Houston Livestock Show and Rodeo, U&2 The Lumineers, Coldplay and the 2017 Advocare Texas Kickoff.

The rest of venue rankings remained stable and just switching ranked positions, Madison Square Garden moved up to the No. 2 spot from last week’s No. 4, while the Wells Fargo – PA nabbed the No. 4 spot up from last week’s No. 10. Caesars Palace – Colosseum managed to grab the No. 5 spot while the Staples Center moved up into the No. 7 spot from last week’s No. 9. The PNC Banks Arts Center grabbed the No. 9 spot and the Barclays Center rounded out the rankings in the No. 10 spot.
