Brooklyn's Barclays Center sits atop venues rankings months before opening
The Barclays Center in Brooklyn, NY, which has yet to open doors, made its debut last week at the No. 1 position on TicketNews' exclusive venues rankings and held on to the top spot for a second consecutive week with the help of some big name events.
The Barclays Center is set to open doors on September 28, with a performance by Jay-Z, who is part-owner of the Brooklyn Nets (formerly the New Jersey Nets) who will be calling the Barclays Center home with the start of the NBA season. The venue will seat 18,000 for basketball games and up to 19,000 for concerts.
Hollywood Bowl makes strong seasonal debut in venues rankings
Making its debut on TicketNews' exclusive rankings this week is the Hollywood Bowl, the largest outdoor amphitheater in the United States. The popular outdoor venue leapt to No. 3 in the rankings, thanks in part to the May 5 release of individual tickets to the 2012 summer concert schedule.
Some of the upcoming featured acts scheduled to appear at the bowl this summer season include The Beach Boys on June 2, Glen Campbell on June 24-26, July 4th Fireworks Spectaculars on July 2-5 with special guest Barry Manilow, and popular Grammy Award winning guitarist Juanes is scheduled to perform at the venue on Aug. 17-18.
MetLife Stadium jumps to the top of venues rankings
MetLife Stadium climbed to the top of TicketNews exclusive venue rankings this week thanks to some highly anticipated events taking place at the two-year old stadium.
Driving the venue into the No. 1 position were ticket sales for the Garden State's hometown hero, Bruce Springsteen. The singer, who is affectionately known to his fans as "The Boss," will be performing at the open-air venue alongside his beloved E Street Band for three dates in September.
Beyoncé helps Revel Ovation Hall make strong debut in venue rankings
The brand new Revel Ovation Hall made a stellar debut on TicketNews' exclusive venue rankings, jumping to No. 3 this week. The 5,500 hundred seat amphitheater is located inside Revel, Atlantic City's newest resort and casino, which opened for an eight-week preview on April 2 before officially opening May 25.
Although the venue will celebrate with an inaugural performance by Grammy Award winning group Maroon 5 on May 18, the amphitheater likely grabbed the spot thanks to tickets for Beyoncé's three concerts going on sale Friday, April 6. She will be performing during the resorts premiere weekend May 25-28. These exclusive performances will mark the singers return to stage for the first time since the summer of 2011.
Molson Amphitheatre is top venue behind One Direction ticket sales
Molson Amphitheatre in Toronto, ON, made its first appearance at the No. 1 position in TicketNews' exclusive venues rankings, thanks largely to the British-Irish invasion of popular boy band One Direction.
Just as Madonna did in early March, the teen group are selling hot this week in advance of their North American tour, and many venues are reaping the benefits.
Knicks, Springsteen tickets help MSG stay atop venues rankings
Madison Square Garden (MSG) once again took No. 1 in TicketNews' exclusive venues rankings, besting all rivals for five consecutive weeks.
MSG benefits from a mix of sports and concert draws this season. The arena is home to the NHL's New York Rangers and the NBA's New York Knicks, who, in the midst of "Linsanity", led this week's Top Sports Events rankings.
Knicks, Van Halen tickets keep MSG atop venues rankings
With "Linsanity" in high gear, Madison Square Garden (MSG) easily retained its No. 1 position in TicketNews' exclusive venues rankings for the week ending Sunday, February 26.
MSG is home to the New York Knicks and has seen rising star Jeremy Lin lead the team to a 9-3 record since being forced into the line-up earlier this month following injuries to players ahead of him on the depth chart. The Knicks resume their season on February 29, when they welcome the Cleveland Cavaliers to MSG.
Madonna ticket sales help arenas climb up venues rankings
With the help of the latest tour from Madonna along with Super Bowl XLVI being over, indoor sports and concert arenas took over the top spots in TicketNews' exclusive venues rankings for the week ending Sunday, February 12.
Madison Square Garden (MSG) returned to the No. 1 spot after four weeks out. Although Madonna won't be visiting MSG, it was the arenas sports teams, the New York Knicks and New York Rangers, that contributed to its strong performance. In addition, MSG is hosting the sold-out Westminster Kennel Club Dog Show this week.
Super Bowl tickets make Lucas Oil Stadium top venue
With just a week to go until the Super Bowl, fans have taken Lucas Oil Stadium to No. 1 in TicketNews' exclusive venues rankings for the week ending Sunday, January 29.
On February 5, the Stadium will host the New England Patriots and New York Giants for Super Bowl XLVI, which took the top spot in TicketNews' Top Sports Events.
Knicks, Van Halen tickets keep MSG atop venues rankings
The late-starting NBA season and a long anticipated rock reunion brought indoor arenas to the top of TicketNews' exclusive venues rankings for the week ending Sunday, January 15.
Madison Square Garden (MSG) topped the week's rankings, coming in at No. 1 for the sixth consecutive week. The arena was aided by strong sales for the NBA's New York Knicks and the NHL's Atlantic Division leading New York Rangers.
