The alt-rock masters of Wilco added yet another round of U.S. dates to their on-going 2009 tour plans. The extension falls in October with performances currently booked from October 1 at the University of Iowa in Iowa City, IA, through October 18-19 at UIC Pavilion in Chicago, IL.

Led by singer and principal songwriter Jeff Tweedy, the group will perform a total of 12 shows on its new fall outing. Highlights are an October 6 gig at The Crossroads in Kansas City, MO, an October 10 show at Orpheum Theatre in Nashville, TN, and an October 14 concert at Massey Hall in Toronto, ON.

Just a few dates into the three-week trek, Wilco will stop for an October 4 performance at the Farm Aid 2009 festivities, being held this year at the Verizon Wireless Amphitheater in Maryland Heights, MO. Other confirmed performers at the one-day event are Willie Nelson, Neil Young, John Mellencamp, Dave Matthews, Jason Mraz, Jamey Johnson and Phosphorescent.

Tickets for select dates of the tour are already on sale. The next large batch of ticket onsales begins August 1 for performances in St. Paul, Kansas City, Dallas, Columbus and Ann Arbor. More detailed ticketing information is available at Wilco’s official Web site.

Wilco is touring behind its seventh studio record, “Wilco (The Album),” released on June 30. The band, based out of Chicago, has already completed two U.S. tour legs for the effort, which hit No. 4 on the Billboard 200.

The first Wilco tour of the year launched in mid-April and featured only a handful of dates across the Midwest and South. After a round of European performances, Wilco returned for a second, longer tour leg that ran from June through July.

Wilco will head back to Europe for a second round of shows there before launching the stateside trek in fall. The band is slated to perform from August 13 at the Oya Festival in Oslo, NOR, through August 27-28 at Vicar Street in Dublin, IRE.
