This has been a busy year for alternative band Wilco, which filled its calendar with three North American tour legs, several international stints and the release of a new, self-titled album. Now the rock crew, led by singer-songwriter Jeff Tweedy, is setting its sights on 2010 and a fresh round of national performances.
The one-month venture kicks off February 7 at Adams Center in Missoula, MT, and concludes March 3 at Halifax Forum Arena in Halifax, NS. Equal parts American and Canadian, the 15-date trek also includes stops on February 10 at Paramount Theatre in Seattle, WA, and February 27 at Olympia de Montreal in Montreal, QC.
Ticket sales for the earlier dates on the winter trek begin October 16, with most of the remaining onsale dates following next week on October 23. An opening act has not been announced.
In addition to the regular tour dates, Wilco is also scheduled to make a special appearance at the 2010 Winter Olympics. The band will stage a free show on February 13 at David Lam Park in the games’ host city Vancouver, BC.
In the meantime, Wilco has one week left on its current North American tour leg. The tour bus’s next stop is set for tonight, October 12, at Wexner Center for the Arts in Columbus, OH. From there, the acclaimed rock crew will continue on through Toronto, ON, and Ann Arbor, MI, before wrapping up with an October 18-19 stand at UIC Pavilion in Chicago, IL.
The fall 2009 tour leg comes at the end of a packed 2009 calendar, which included early spring and summer-long North American runs by the band.
Wilco’s summer jaunt stretched through June and July, and coincided with the release of the band’s seventh studio effort, “Wilco (The Album).” The record peaked at No. 4 on the Billboard 200, tying with 2007’s “Sky Blue Sky” for the band’s highest ever chart debut.
