Ticketmaster appointed Geoff Carns Senior General Manager for the Southern California region, the company announced earlier today.

Carns, who has been with Ticketmaster since 1998, is moving from a similar position he held in Seattle covering the Pacific Northwest. According to officials, Carns will be responsible for Ticketmaster’s business operations in Southern California including the sprawling Los Angeles and San Diego markets.

The switch comes as Ticketmaster continues to aggressively gobble up partnerships with sports teams and venues in its desire to stave off competition from StubHub!, TicketLiquidator and others. . .

“Geoff has been a tremendous asset to Ticketmaster for close to ten years and I am very excited to have his leadership and expertise in place to oversee our business operations and all aspects of client service in the greater Los Angeles and San Diego markets,” Don Orris, Executive Vice President, West Region, for Ticketmaster, said in a prepared statement.

Carns said he was excited about his new role, where he will work with the company’s partner venues, promoters and sports team clients. “The ticketing technology we have in place today enables us to serve our clients and consumers more comprehensively than ever before and I’m very eager to ensure that our clients throughout Southern California continue to benefit from the best tools and services to maximize ticket sales for their events.”

Carns joined Ticketmaster in 1998 from Feld Entertainment, where he served as a regional marketing director, according to the company. In addition to the Pacific Northwest, Carns has held a variety of management positions within Ticketmaster, including a stint as GM for the company’s Carolinas operations based in Charlotte, NC.
