Cananda — Sum 41 performed just one show in Canada prior to the July 24 release of “Underclass Hero,” and has been out of the country since. The rock band’s first Canadian tour for this album will be a shared bill with fellow Canadian rockers Finger Eleven, tour producers Live Nation announced.
“It will be the biggest rock tour of the fall, for sure,” says Toronto’s Jeff Craib, senior vice-president of S.L. Feldman & Associates, which books both bands. Sum 41 will close each night. . .
Finger Eleven’s latest album, “Them vs. You vs. Me,” which came out back on March 6, has so far sold more than 76,000 units in Canada. Sum 41’s has sold about 14,000 units in a matter of weeks, according to Nielsen SoundScan Canada.
The “Strength In Numbers Tour” runs from Oct. 10 in Kamloops, BC until Nov. 11 in Moncton, NB.
The tour package will hit arenas, including Toronto’s Air Canada Centre, Vancouver’s GM Place, Calgary’s Saddledome, and Winnipeg’s MTS Centre. “The Winnipeg show is called the Powerball. It’s a huge radio promotion [Power 97]. There’s over a hundred grand in marketing,” says Craib.
