Spears’ Manager Drops The Ticking Time Bomb

A month after signing with him, and just over a week after her disasterous MTV Video Music Awards performanceBritney Spears and manager Jeff Kwatinetz of The Firm agency have parted company.

The Firm, which boasts clients such as Korn, Mandy Moore, Snoop Dogg and Taylor Hicks, dropped the troubled singer as bad press continued to mount.

“It saddens us to confirm media reports that we have terminated our professional relationship with Britney Spears,” said Kwatinetz in a prepared statement. “We have represented Britney for the past month. We believe Britney is enormously talented, and has made a terrific record. But current circumstances have prevented us from properly doing our job. We wish Britney the best.”

Kwatinetz also parted ways with Kelly Clarkson this summer after she scrapped her summer tour due to slow ticket sales. She has since relaunched her tour.

Spears’ lackluster performance drew a torrent of negative press, despite her having a new single that appears to be a hit, called “Gimme More.” Her new album is due Nov. 13.
