John Mellencamp’s fall tour, which begins Oct. 26, has been augmented with an additional series of concert dates that resume after Thanksgiving weekend and continue through Dec. 15. In all, the tour will find Mellencamp performing in 18 states at 24 different venues.

As with the tour’s first leg, Los Lobos, the East Los Angeles rock band that has crossed cultural and generational boundaries for more than 30 years, will join Mellencamp on the bill for the new dates. Collaborations between Los Lobos — Cesar Rosas, Louie Pérez, Steve Berlin, Conrad Lozano and David Hidalgo – and Mellencamp are anticipated.

“These shows are all about the music and the songs,” said Mellencamp in a statement. “That’s the essence of what we’ll be bringing.”

Mellencamp is currently in Bloomington, IN at Belmont Mall Studios in intensive rehearsals with his band — Mike Wanchic, (guitar), Andy York (guitar), Dane Clark (drums), John Gunnell (bass), Miriam Sturm (violin) and Troye Kinnett (keyboards) — who have been working together almost continually since early August when they participated in recording sessions for the new album, as yet untitled. One of the songs recorded for the album is “Jena,” that has been released this week as a streaming video, which focuses on the the current Louisiana court case that has drawn a lot of attention.

In keeping with a policy that started more than 10 years ago, members of the official John Mellencamp fan club will have first crack at premium tickets.
