Pair Increase the Number of Listings in Classifieds

The New York Post has partnered with the online classified provider Oodle to improve its online classified section by adding more listings for event tickets.

The Post’s online classifieds cater to users’ needs, like Craig’s List, by showing a myriad of items and services for sale, but of these tickets are by the far the largest market. Roughly 4.2 million users per month visit the Post’s website; Oodle aggregates 30 million listings from over 80,000 classified websites.

The addition of Oodle’s services could be considered a win for The Post, as its online classifieds section continues to provide robust services. The newspaper also boasts New York’s most utilized automobile marketplace, and its romance classifieds are powered by Match.com. Those features will likely help increase interest in the classified’s the secondary ticket market.

Insomniac browser for ticketing professionals

Browsing on the Post’s classifieds for tickets in New York reveals 388,798 current listings with 95,888 expected in the next week. A wide variety of tickets are for sale; concerts, Broadway shows, and sports are all well represented in a slick interface that allows for easy searching through many categories. In just a few clicks, one can view the 483 available ticket listings for this Sunday’s NHL game when the New York Rangers host the Phoenix Coyotes.

The Post seems to be well ahead of the curve among some major newspaper online classifieds carrying listings for tickets. The New York Times, Chicago Tribune, and Los Angeles Times offer zero, 13, and 33 ticket listings respectively.
