The Vineland Music Festival, which was supposed to take place in Vineland, NJ over the August 8-10 weekend, was recently postponed to the summer of 2009, organizers said. Tickets never went on sale, and acts were never announced.

The plug was pulled by the promoters, a partnership between UK promoter Festival Republic, (Reading, Glastonbury) and U.S. promoter C3 Presents (Lollapalooza, Austin City Limits Music Festival), for various reasons, including festival competition that weekend with the new multi-stage All Points West Music & Arts Festival in Liberty State Park in Liberty, N.J. The Virgin Mobile Festival in Baltimore, MD, is also slated for the August 8-10 weekend.

Not wanting to force music fans to choose between three events on the same weekend, Vineland co-producers stated: “Due to the overall festival traffic in the Northeast and big bands touring through this area at the same time, we have decided to step back and launch Vineland in 2009.”

And to top off matters, the Vineland, NJ community was not happy with the proposed weekend festival and it was ready to file numerous protests before the promoters received approval.
