Singer-songwriter Ani DiFranco is picking up her guitar and heading out on the road with her band for a combined fall and winter tour. The 27-date, three-leg tour starts September 16 at the Arkansas Music Pavilion in Fayetteville, AR, and concludes with November 21-22 performances at the Town Hall Theatre in New York City.

DiFranco is touring in support of “Red Letter Year,” scheduled for a September 30 release on DiFranco’s own Righteous Babe Records. It is the eighteenth studio record for the performer, who is best known for her songs’ autobiographical and political content.

In a July 15 interview with Shock Records, DiFranco described the new album, “When I listen to my new record, I hear a very relaxed me, which I think has been absent in a lot of my recorded canon.”

DiFranco attributed this newfound sense of musical calm to her family life with partner Mike Napolitano and new baby, Petah Lucia. “Now I feel like I’m in a really good place,” the folk rocker commented.

Providing musical accompaniment for the tour are Todd Sickafoose (upright bass), Allison Miller (drums), and Mike Dillon (percussion, vibes). Following the first leg of the tour, which ends October 7 in Royal Oak, MI, DiFranco and her band will complete an eight-date European jaunt before returning to the States for the third and final leg of the trek.
