TicketNews has released its exclusive venues rankings for the week ending Sunday, August 10, and Yankee Stadium maintains its dominance of all other venues for the seventh straight week. With a power score of 3.53, the stadium’s margin of victory over the rankings’ number two venue is tighter than last week, but with Yankees tickets topping TicketNews Top Sports Events Rankings for much of this summer, this lead appears solid. Giants Stadium continues its climb through the top ten, finishing at the number two slot, up one from last week. With a power score of 3.45, the host of New York’s Jets, Giants and Red Bulls came the closest of any venue in several weeks to topple Yankees Stadium from its perch at number one.

Madison Square Garden (MSG) rounds out the top three this week, once again boosted by sales for popular shows like the Jonas Brothers, Neil Diamond, the Dave Matthews Band, Celene Dion and Madonna. MSG’s power score for this week is 2.94, a solid showing for this venue.

Qwest field rockets into the number four position this week with a power score of 2.24, its movement driven by strong sales for Seattle Seahawks tickets. The Gershwin Theater again leads all Broadway venues, this week falling from number two to number five. The Broadway home to “Wicked,” TicketNews’ number one selling theater event this summer, comes in with a power score of 2.21.

Sports ticket sales are responsible for the majority of all other top ten finishers this week. Texas Stadium, home to the Dallas Cowboys, moves up one slot this week to number 6, with a power score of 1.73. With the Chicago Cubs holding fast to their NL Central division lead, continued robust ticket sales keep Wrigley Field in the top ten, down three slots this week to the number seven position with a power score of 1.58. Fenway Park drops from sixth to eighth place this week as the Red Sox drop out of the top three in TicketNews’ Top Sports Events rankings for the first time since mid-June. Catapulted by strong sales of U.S. Open tickets, Arthur Ashe Stadium breaks into the top ten this week at number nine, with a power score of 1.54.

Rounding out the top ten, with a power score of 1.34, the Vivian Beaumont Theatre at Lincoln Center drops slightly to the number ten slot from eighth position last week, though sales of “South Pacific” tickets remain solid.

TicketNews Exclusive Rankings and Power Scores are based on ticket sales for venues from the TicketNetwork Exchange™, the world’s largest secondary market exchange. A Power Score illustrates a given venue’s category-specific significance. Two factors are used to calculate a power score: total ticket sales for a venue, and total ticket sales within the category. As such, power scores should only be used to compare venues within a particular category.
