Today’s tour recap includes tour announcements, date additions, new powerhouse touring duos, and more as compiled by Ticket News on September 5, 2008.

This past week, Aerosmith frontman gave some details about the band’s spring 2009 tour and soon-to-be-recorded album. While Aerosmith will saturate the ticket market next year, OneRepublic‘s newly announced fall Tag This Tour! is a hot item now. It’s the first headlining run for the piano rock band, who have picked up three popular rock bands to support the tour. In other touring news, Widespread Panic will be hitting the road this fall after being inducted into Georgia’s Music Hall of Fame.

Those are the main stories for the workday, but before rushing into the weekend, check out the following tour tidbits for today’s other announcements:

Janet Jackson recently announced that rap and hip-hop pioneer LL Cool J will join her fall Rock Witchu Tour. Cool J’s takes the stage September 25 at All State Arena in Chicago, IL, through November 22 at the American Airlines Center in Dallas, TX. In addition to shows at the TD Banknorth Garden in Boston, MA, on November 1 and at the Verizon Center in Washington, DC, on November 15, the duo will perform at the newly announced October 16 show at New York City’s Madison Square Garden. Jackson will kick off her tour on September 10 at General Motors Place in Vancouver, BC.

R&B songstress Mary J. Blige recently announced the addition of crooner Robin Thicke to her upcoming Love-Soul Tour. The two will tour together September 19 at the Verizon Wireless Amphitheatre in Virigina Beach, VA, through the newly-added October 22 gig at the Neal S. Blaisdell Arena in Honolulu, HI. The 17-date tour features a two-night stand at Radio City Music Hall on October 2-3, as well as new shows on October 10 in Sunrise, FL, and October 12 in Atlanta, GA.

Citizen Cope has added new dates to his string of solo acoustic shows this fall. Among the new dates are October 3-4 gigs at the Vic Theatre in Chicago, IL, and an October 18 show at the Apollo Theater in New York City. Citizen Cope’s tour begins September 24 at the Calvin Theater in Northampton, MA, and is scheduled to wrap November 8 at Spreckels Theatre in San Diego, CA. The 30-date trek includes one stop in Canada on October 28 at Vogue Theatre in Vancouver, BC.

Alternative Afro-beat group Rusted Root will be heading out on the road soon for a 20-date tour of the U.S. All but four of the announced dates are located on the East Coast, including a gig at the Nokia Theatre in Times Square of New York City on October 3. The announced midwestern shows are November 7 in Traverse City, MI; November 9 in Bloomington, IN; November 10 in Madison, WI; and the final show of the tour, November 11 in Urbana, IL. Rusted Root hits the road on September 18 at The Armory in Rochester, NY.

Jazz trio The Bad Plus have added shows to their 2008 fall tour, which began September 4 with the first of three shows at the Catalina Bar & Grill in Los Angeles, CA. The world tour itinerary now features stops in Argentina, Brazil, the Czech Republic, Serbia, Denmark and Belgium, among other countries. In addition to the international shows, the group will also perform more U.S. dates, including a September 23-28 run at the Village Vanguard in New York City. The Bad Plus will be on the road through November before taking a break in preparation for early 2009 shows.
