London, ENG (viagogo) December 26, 2008 – Alex Zivoder, Senior Vice President of Expedia Europe, is joining viagogo as Managing Director Europe. Mr Zivoder brings a comprehensive understanding of the European e-commerce and leisure industry to viagogo as it continues its rapid expansion.
Mr Zivoder will be entrusted with building on viagogo’s position as Europe’s leading ticket exchange. He brings with him a wealth of experience having been at the forefront of Expedia’s activity throughout the continent. Expedia is the world’s largest online travel company serving over 60 million monthly unique users.
Zivoder will help viagogo continue its innovation of the secondary ticketing market and to offer unique solutions to artists, promoters and venues.
Since joining Expedia in July 2006, Zivoder fulfilled two key roles with distinction. He began as Managing Director of Expedia France and Vice President of Expedia Europe before being promoted in under two years to Senior Vice President of Expedia Europe, managing the company in the UK, Germany, France and Italy. It is this knowledge of the European online market that will prove invaluable as viagogo continues its European and World wide progression.
Previous to this Zivoder gained invaluable international management experience at Tele2, global telecoms business, and Eurostat, the Statistical Office of the European Communities. He is also the founder of OPAL, a federation of Luxembourg’s telecommunication operators, and an active member of Renaissance numérique, a non-profit association acting to develop France’s digital economy. Alex Zivoder said: “Despite the current economic climate, viagogo has bucked the trend and demonstrated rapid growth and sound business sense. I look forward to taking the company to the next stage of its exciting journey. Secondary ticketing is one of the fastest growing sectors in e-commerce and there is a real opportunity here for viagogo to build a multi-billion pound business.”
Commenting on the news, Eric Baker, CEO of viagogo said: “We are delighted that Alex has decided to join viagogo as Managing Director. We are growing at an incredible rate and as our influence in the wider European territory develops, so must our team. We intend to use Alex’s passion and knowledge to strengthen our offering to the millions of people across Europe who use viagogo to buy tickets in a safe, secure and guaranteed way.”
