As Pennywise searches for a new lead singer, Zoli Teglas, frontman for hardcore punk band Ignite, will temporarily fill in on vocals during the group’s October 24 set at the 2009 Smokeout Festival at San Manuel Amphitheatre in San Bernardino, CA.
The festival, which runs October 23-24, marks the group’s first major appearance since the Southern California punk rock group’s lead singer and songwriter Jim Lindberg quit Pennywise after nearly 20 years.
“As everybody knows, Jim has left the band, and we’re looking for a new singer,” said Pennywise’s lead guitarist Fletcher Dragge in a statement. “For the time being our friend Zoli has agreed to fill in for Jim for a couple shows to avoid having to cancel them while we look for a permanent replacement.”
Smokeout Festival was founded in 1998 by rap group Cypress Hill and ran through 2003, before making its return this year.
Hosted this year by comedy duo Cheech & Chong, the lineup includes Deftones, Cypress Hill, the surviving members of Sublime, and Method Man & Redman, among many others.
