Claiming it was created as a convenience to fans, David Butler, president of Ticketmaster North America, defended the company’s paperless ticketing system for the new Miley Cyrus tour. In a story in USA Today, Butler said Cyrus’s representatives wanted the system as a way to help ensure fans would be able to buy tickets at face value. However, the system could possibly be preventing sellouts, due to the added logistics of having to scan in attendees’ credit cards at the gate.
