Months of media and fan speculation about Aerosmith’s future came to an end this week when the rock ‘n’ roll legends announced plans to tour again — with beleaguered frontman Steven Tyler back at the mic stand.

The Cocked, Locked and Ready to Rock Tour is currently limited to the UK and Europe, with performances slated at many of the continent’s largest music festivals. Aerosmith’s concert calendar opens with a June 10 set at Sweden Rock Festival in Solvesborg, SWE, and closes out on July 3 at the Jammin’ Festival in Venice, ITA.

“Back by popular demand with more spit and fire than ever before, we’re coming across the pond and parting the waters as we go,” Tyler said in a statement on Aerosmith’s official Web site.

In recent months, Tyler was the subject of much media scrutiny as the fate of his veteran band seemed unclear.

Aerosmith’s troubles started during its summer 2009 tour with ZZ Top when Tyler fell off the stage during a concert. As he recovered from various injuries sustained in the fall, the band was forced to cancel the rest of the tour.

Even after Tyler had recovered, reports from the Aerosmith camp portrayed the band as fractured, with the singer focused on time off and a solo career. The rockers’ internal squabbles soon became very public when Perry and his bandmates discussed concerns about Tyler’s sobriety and the possibility of auditioning a new singer.

But all’s well that ends well, and that is apparently the case with Aerosmith. The rockers seem to have put aside their differences and made amends, even filming a lighthearted video for the upcoming tour. In the 20-second segment, Tyler jests, “I just auditioned and I got the gig.” (Watch the full video, embedded below.)
