Kylie Minogue, whose latest album was released in July, has announced she will be touring throughout Europe and the UK during the early months of 2011.
The tour, named “Aphrodite – Les Folies Tour 2011” after her most recent album “Aphrodite,” will begin in Denmark on February 19, and continue through Finland, Latvia and Lithuania during the month. The tour will stop in Berlin on March 1, then move on to Munich, Barcelona and Dublin. The British leg of the tour will begin in Glasgow on March 28 and 29, moving on to Manchester April 1 and 2, and then finish in London at the O2 Arena on April 7 and 8. The Australian pop singer and actress boasts international record sales topping 68 million albums sold.
Minogue is known for her spectacle-laden stage shows, highlighting not only her popular music but also her artistic exhibitionism, and in a statement on her Web site she promised this tour will outdo her past shows.
“The reaction to ‘Aphrodite’ has been absolutely incredible and has inspired me and my creative team to develop a new show that will take all of us on a euphoric journey of joy, excitement and glamour. I can’t wait to get on the road and see all my fans in 2011,” the she said. The album debuted at number one on the UK pop charts.
In addition to announcing her upcoming 2011 tour dates, Minogue also announced that as a reward to her UK fans, tickets to her UK concerts may be purchased without a per ticket surcharge. In order to take advantage of this promotion, fans must purchase their tickets through one of brokers listed on her official Web site Kylie.com. While there will not be a per ticket surcharge, there will be a “one-off transaction fee” charged per total order.
Tickets for the Barcelona show go on sale September 12, and the rest of the tour will be on sale September 13. As of yet, no opening acts have been announced. It is widely speculated that Minogue will also plan a United States or North American tour during 2011 following her European tour. Minogue’s only past U.S. trek came last year when she mounted a successful nine-city outing.
