TicketNews has released its exclusive venues rankings for the week ending Sunday, December 19, with Madison Square Garden (MSG) back on top after a three week hiatus from number one.

Power scoring a 6.95, MSG is home to the popular New York Knicks and New York Rangers. Later this month, the WWE tour makes a stop at MSG.

In concerts, the venue has Prince on both December 29 and January 18, with Lady Gaga and Bon Jovi each arriving in February. Currently playing at the Theater at Madison Square Garden is Cirque Du Soleil’s Wintuk, which took number five in this week’s Top Broadway Events rankings and number nine in the Top Theater rankings.

Knocked from its number one perch of the last two weeks, the University of Phoenix Stadium dropped back to number two this week, power scoring a 2.80. The Arizona Cardinals’ home stadium is due to host the New Year’s Day Fiesta Bowl, this year pitting the UConn Huskies against the Oklahoma Sooners. The University of Phoenix Stadium will also have the 2011 BCS National Championship Game between the Auburn Tigers and the Oregon Ducks.

The TD Garden (Fleet Center) in Boston, MA moved up one this week to number three, power scoring a 2.79. The Garden is home to two teams with very strong sales on the secondary market, the Boston Celtics, and the Boston Bruins. The popular WWE tour stops in on January 30. Top selling musical artists scheduled to visit the Garden include Lady Gaga and Bon Jovi, who each arrive in March.

Up two this week in the rankings was the Staples Center in Los Angeles, CA. Staples is home to the Los Angeles Lakers and Clippers of the NBA, as well as the NHL’s Los Angeles Kings. In upcoming concerts, Staples has Lady Gaga in March and Taylor Swift for four shows in August. Staples power scored a 2.04 this week.

Dallas Cowboys Stadium in Arlington, TX fell two this week to take the number five spot. The home to the Dallas Cowboys, is experiencing strong sales for the January 7 Cotton Bowl, where the Texas A&M Aggies will face off against the LSU Tigers. In February, the Stadium has hosting duties for Super Bowl XLV. Dallas Cowboys Stadium finished the week with a power score of 1.83.

Chicago’s Cadillac Palace made it back into the top ten for the first time since mid-November, coming in at number six and power scoring a 1.82. The theater is currently in a run of Wicked through late January.

The Wells Fargo Center in Philadelphia, PA returned to the top ten after a three week absence, in at number seven this week. The home to both the Philadelphia 76ers and the Philadelphia Flyers also has the WWE tour arriving in February as well as Bon Jovi in March. The Wells Fargo Center power scored a 1.71 this week.

Following an uncharacteristic week out of the top ten, the Gershwin Theatre made it back onto the list, finishing the week at number eight and power scoring a 1.63. Despite some uneven performances over recent months, the theater continues to experience strong sales for its long running hit musical, “Wicked.”

As Christmas approaches and its holiday reign nears the end, Radio City Music Hall ended the week at number nine. Though not hitting the rankings highs seen earlier this season, the venue stays in the top ten on continued robust sales for its Radio City Christmas Spectacular. Radio City Music Hall power scored a 1.48 this week.

Finally, American Airlines Arena in Miami, FL, appeared in the top ten for the first time since late October, in at number ten. With a power score of 1.44, the Arena is home to LeBron James and his Miami Heat and will have Lady Gaga hitting the stage for a concert in April.

TicketNews Exclusive Rankings and Power Scores are based on ticket sales for venues from the TicketNetwork Exchange™, the world’s largest secondary market exchange. A Power Score illustrates a given venue’s category-specific significance. Two factors are used to calculate a power score: total ticket sales for a venue, and total ticket sales within the category. As such, power scores should only be used to compare venues within a particular category.
