Soundgarden has filled in the gaps in its July tour schedule, which will now hit 17 cities across the United States and Canada. The month-long outing begins July 2 at Molson Canadian Amphitheatre in Toronto, ON, and concludes July 30 at Gorge Amphitheatre in Quincy, WA.
The band has new performances planned on July 6 at Mohegan Sun Arena in Uncasville, CT; July 10 at Comcast Center in Mansfield, MA; July 16 at UIC Pavilion in Chicago, IL; and July 23 at The Joint in Las Vegas, NV.
Soundgarden’s itinerary features four Canadian concert dates, as well. In addition to the opening night show, those gigs are set for July 3 at the John Labatt Centre in London, ON; July 5 at the Bluesfest in Ottawa, ON; and July 29 at Rogers Arena in Vancouver, BC.
The band’s initial tour announcement featured only four dates, which went on sale late in April. New onsales are coming up May 13-14 with prices starting on the low end at $29.50 (Vancouver, BC) and reaching up to $87.50 (Wantagh, NY), according to current Ticketmaster.com listings.
July’s tour billing features several special guests. Coheed and Cambria supports all concerts July 2-10, while The Mars Volta joins the tour for July 12-23. Queens of the Stone Age and Meat Puppets will play the tour’s two final nights (July 29-30), joined by Mastodon for the July 30 closing show only.
In a tour update on Soundgarden’s official Web site yesterday, May 5, the band noted that these are the final dates for the summer trek. The group, which reunited for one-offs and festival appearances in 2010, has not revealed any plans to tour nationally or internationally beyond July.
Soundgarden could forego any additional touring until its new studio album hits store shelves.
Frontman Chris Cornell and bandmates Kim Thayil, Matt Cameron and Ben Shepherd revealed in February that they had started the writing process. However, since then, he rockers have not divulged any details regarding a title or tentative release date for the new work, beyond saying that they hoped it would be complete sometime this year.
