Ever wanted to get last-minute tickets to an event but weren’t sure where to go to find them? WillCall, a soon-to-be-released app, aims to solve the conundrum of finding affordable last-minute event tickets.

Created by friends Donnie Dinch and Patrick and Julian Tescher, WillCall came about due to the difficulty the trio found in looking online for last-minute tickets to concerts and theatre events. “We have no background in the entertainment industry, but we recognized how hard it was for us to get tickets to see live events at the last minute,” Dinch explained in an interview with TicketNews. “We liked to make plans at the last minute and found that was really hard to do. We wanted to build something that allowed consumers to see events at the last minute without a lot of planning.”

WillCall, which is expected to have a soft launch in San Francisco in the next few weeks, will allow consumers the chance to search for events in their city, purchase tickets, and have the tickets on their phone for that evening’s event. The app will be available for iOS, Android, and Windows Phone.

While WillCall will start off solely in San Francisco, Dinch expects the app to roll out fairly steadily to other cities. “We are having a soft launch in San Francisco and will maintain that until March when we will head to South by Southwest…We then plan to launch in New York City and Los Angeles and expand to other cities from there,” said Dinch.

According to Dinch, the key to WillCall’s future success will be in developing strong relationships with venues in cities as well as developing strong relationships with consumers. “Our goal is to make it as effortless as possible for the consumer to see live performances at the last minute…We have already been working with venues and promoters in [San Francisco], and we are looking forward to seeing people at South by Southwest,” said Dinch.

As to future plans once WillCall is officially launched, Dinch said there are many possible directions to take WillCall, especially with the constant advances of the internet. However, at this point, the focus of the trio is on launching WillCall throughout the country.
