Television stars Big Time Rush and rising pop sensation Cody Simpson have a joint concert tour that is among the onsales for the weekend ending March 12 as compiled by TicketNews.
Stars of Nickelodeon’s hit television show by the same name, boy band Big Time Rush has been surging in popularity with the tween and teen age groups. BTR, as the band is known by their fans, drew the largest audience for a live action program in Nickelodeon’s history when their show initially premiered in 2009, and their debut album peaked at No. 3 on the Billboard Hot 200 chart.
Joining BTR on tour will be Australian pop star Cody Simpson. Discovered via YouTube, much like pop superstar Justin Bieber, Simpson had success in his native Australia prior to moving to Los Angeles in 2010. Simpson recently embarked on a national shopping mall tour, and this tour with Big Time Rush will be his first official tour. Dates on sale this week for the joint tour include stops in Atlanta, Orlando, Cincinnati, Dallas, and Tulsa.
Also with tickets on sale this weekend is Dave Matthews Band. In existence for just over 20 years, Dave Matthews Band has become one of the most successful bands of the late 20th and early 21st century. Having sold roughly 40 million albums, DMB is known among its fan base for their annual summer tours, which often see fans attending multiple dates in each city. In addition to announcing their latest tour, the band also made headlines for announcing that they were working on a new album, although its release date is still unknown. Stops on the band’s summer tour on sale today include Cincinnati, Hershey, and Bethel, NY.
Tickets are also on sale today for the upcoming UFC bout between lightweights Nate Diaz and Jim Miller. Diaz was the champion of the reality show “Ultimate Fighter” in its fifth season and has a record of 15-7. Miller is ranked in the top ten internationally in mixed martial arts fighting, and currently has a record of 21-3. The match will take place at the IZOD Center in New Jersey on May 5.
“Onsales” is a ticketing industry term describing when tickets initially go on sale to the general public. Each week, tickets are released by promoters, venues and others to dozens of events, but the number of tickets available can vary significantly between locations.
