R&B superstar Drake has tickets to his upcoming U.S. tour among the onsales for the weekend ending April 2 as compiled by TicketNews®.
The Canadian hip hop star has had a meteoric rise to fame over the past three years. After leaving his television role on the hit Canadian teen series “Degrassi,” Drake, whose real name is Aubrey Drake Graham, embarked on a music career. After attracting the attention of Lil Wayne’s record label, he launched his first solo album “Thank Me Later,” which went on to debut at No. 1 on the Billboard Hot 200. Drake continues to have success with his most recent album “Take Care.” Tickets for his upcoming concerts in Virginia Beach, VA; Charlotte, NC; and Noblesville, IN are on sale this weekend.
Also with concerts among the weekend’s onsales list is Lady Antebellum. Formed in 2006, the trio has been climbing both the country and pop charts ever since. Their debut album was released in 2008 and has since gone platinum in the U.S., while their second album helped the band to make the tricky crossover from the country charts onto mainstream pop radio with their number one hit “Need You Know.” Lady Antebellum is now touring in promotion of their third album, “Own the Night,” which was released last fall and has continued the band’s recent run of success. Concerts in Maryland Heights, MO and Birmingham, AL are among events on sale Saturday.
Continuing with the concert onsales are tickets to a newly added New York City concert for Madonna’s upcoming MDNA tour. The previously scheduled two New York City concerts, both to be held at Yankee Stadium, sold well enough to necessitate a third show at Madison Square Garden to be added. The tour is set to stop throughout North America, Asia, and Europe in 2012 before going on to stops in Australia and South America.
“Onsales” is a ticketing industry term describing when tickets initially go on sale to the general public. Each week, tickets are released by promoters, venues and others to dozens of events, but the number of tickets available can vary significantly between locations.
