After falling two spots last week the Eugene O’Neill Theatre has returned to the top spot of TicketNews®’ venues rankings for the week ending September 23, 2012.

The Eugene O’Neill Theatre wasn’t the only beneficiary to ticket sales from “The Book of Mormon,” both the second and third place venues are hosting productions as well. In addition to being a Broadway powerhouse the show has hit the road for a year long national tour. The show is scheduled to visit 15 cities along the way, all of which are sure to see a boost on TicketNews®’ venues rankings.

The Curran Theatre in San Francisco, CA comes in at the second spot. The theatre will be hosting the musical November 27 through December 30. Rounding out the top three is Pantages Theatre in Los Angeles, CA. Pantages is currently hosting “The Book of Mormon” through November 25. The theatre has a busy holiday season lined up with “Donny and Marie Christmas in Los Angeles” set to kick off nearly two weeks after “The Book of Mormon” wraps up.

Charging onto the rankings list this week at number four is another California venue, the HP Pavilion in San Jose. With tickets for Barbra Streisand and Lady Gaga’s Born This Way Ball both going on sale this past weekend it is no surprise HP Pavilion debuted strongly this week. In the next three weeks the venue will host Jason Mraz, Madonna for two nights, and Carrie Underwood.

Another venue making noticeable gains this week is Brooklyn’s Barclays Center coming in at the sixth position. The Barclays Center’s grand opening is scheduled for September 28 with the first of eight performances by rapper Jay-Z. This weekend saw tickets released for Rihanna’s Diamonds World Tour and the Brooklyn Nets single game tickets, aiding in the venue’s jump from the thirteenth spot last week.

TicketNews Exclusive Rankings and Power Scores are based on ticket sales for venues from the TicketNetwork Exchange™. A Power Score illustrates a given venue’s significance among all other venues listed in the Exchange. Two factors are used to calculate a power score: total ticket sales for a venue, and total ticket sales overall.
