PRESS RELEASE: Ticketbis Raises $4.5 Million In Its Fourth Round of Funding

July 31, 2013Ticketbis.net, the platform where fans can buy or sell tickets for events in Europe and South America has announced the injection of a new round of funding of $4.5 million.

Previous investors in the company have once again provided financial support, and have been joined by several company employees and two renowned Spanish Business Angels. In just three years since the company was founded, Ticketbis has achieved over $7.2 million dollars in investment with the help of four separate funding rounds.

“We have been approached by significant Venture Capital organizations, in both Europe and America, however, we preferred to preserve our independence and management agility and decided on private investor input only,” said Jon Uriarte, CEO and co-founder of Ticketbis.

Present in fifteen countries and the industry leader in Southern Europe and Latin America, Ticketbis’ ambitious internationalization plan has been key to its growth as demonstrated by approximately half of its turnover achieved in Europe, with the remaining coming from Latin America.

Ander Michelena, CEO and co-founder of Ticketbis, acknowledged that the business still has much growth potential; “We are changing the way people purchase tickets worldwide, as demonstrated by the excellent results in the five markets that have just opened in Latin America. We have much to do outside of our borders and will continue supporting expansion.”

Record turnover in the first half of 2013

In the first six months of this year, Ticketbis’ turnover of nearly $18 million has significantly exceeded the $15 million invoiced in the whole of 2012.

“In just three years we have gained six million users and have sold over 150,000 tickets worldwide, so we will continue working in the same direction. In addition to continuing geographic expansion, it is essential to establish ourselves in newly opened markets with the objective of becoming the leaders,” concluded Jon Uriarte, CEO and cofounder of Ticketbis.

Ticketbis.net, which has focused on hiring talented young professionals to meet the needs of the company, will continue to expand its team in both new and existing markets.
