If you want to catch a Red Sox game and at the same time make a contribution to a very worthy charity, the Wounded Warrior Project, you better hurry up and buy your tickets; there are only two opportunities left to do so.
The Red Sox are playing their last two of a four-game run against the Tampa Bay Rays today and tomorrow, which will end their four game donation partnership the charity. With every ticket purchased for those games, a $5 donation will be made to the charity. According to Red Sox spokeswoman Abby DeCiccio, you must purchase through a special link on the Red Sox website, www.redsox.com/wwp, in order to participate in the donation program. Additionally, the sections available are limited.
The Wounded Warrior Project has a four-day solider ride in Boston this week and will be part of a pre-game ceremony for the riders before Friday’s game.
We have discovered that there may be one other advantage to buying these special tickets besides the charity contribution; you may also save a few dollars. A side by side comparison of buying tickets to Thursday’s game in the same section revealed that the tickets purchased through the regular Red Sox site cost $7.50 more than the tickets purchased through the Red Sox charity link.
So, contribute to a worthy charity while saving money, that’s a win-win in anyone’s ballpark.
