The Australian pop-star Troye Sivan has revealed tour dates in North America this fall after the release of his second studio-album, Bloom.
Sivan will kick-off the tour on September 21 in Irving, Texas and make stops in cities like Washington, D.C., Boston, Toronto, Chicago, San Diego, and Seattle before wrapping up on November 8 in Vancouver, British Columbia. This is his first headlining tour since his 2016 Suburbia Tour with supporting act Dua Lipa. He will be joined this time by Kim Petras on all dates, as well as Leland and Charlie Hanson on select dates.
With the tour announcement came a lot of confusion and disappointment from fans, since Sivan wanted to bring Petras along for the ride despite her history defending her producer Dr. Luke. In 2014, Luke was sued by popstar Kesha for rape and “despicable conduct.” He sued Kesha for defamation, and after her appeal to exit her contract with the producer was rejected, Luke’s lawyers filed new court documents, seeking $50 million in damages from the singer. In an interview with NME earlier this year, Petras said, “I would like my fans to know that I wouldn’t work with somebody I believe to be an abuser of women, definitely not.”
Sivan took to Twitter after seeing a lot of negativity online and said that he was not aware of the comments Petras made about Luke.
“I since have read them and was troubled by them, like you,” he wrote. “The opinions communicated in these interviews don’t align with my personal values or the values of the tour.”
However, he still made the decision to give her a second chance, saying that “people misspeak” and that’s how they “grow and learn.” He also assured fans that just like his past tours, he will be donating a portion of proceeds to the Ally Coalition, and starting with The Bloom Tour, will also donate to the nation’s largest anti-sexual violence organization, RAINN.
Bloom is due August 31, following Sivan’s 2015 debut, Blue Neighborhood. The title track, along with “The Good Side” and “My My My!” have been released as singles. Check out the full list of tour dates below.
