Performances of the acclaimed Broadway show Wicked were set to take place in New Orleans through this weekend, but due to a construction collapse near the venue, all remaining shows have been cancelled.

Over the weekend, the Hard Rock Hotel, which is under construction on Canal Street, partially collapsed. Two people were confirmed dead and nearly three dozen were injured, NOLA reports. At the time of the emergency, the site and nearby areas were under evacuation and crews are continuing to try and stabilize the crumbling structure.

Mayor Latoya Cantrell noted that all forthcoming performances of Wicked at the Saenger Theatre through October 20 have been cancelled due to the emergency situation. The theatre noted in a statement that tickets purchased through Ticketmaster will be refunded automatically, but others should seek refunds via point of purchase.

Earlier this summer, it was announced that Wicked would be returning to the Saenger Theater from October 2 through 20, running from Tuesday through Sunday.

“At Hancock Whitney, we pride ourselves on our commitment to the community and are proud to present WICKED as part of the Hancock Whitney Broadway in New Orleans series,” Gary Lorio, Hancock Whitney regional president, said of the announcement. “The untold true story of the witches of Oz will leave audiences enthralled.”

Wicked, which is celebrating its 15th anniversary on Broadway, has won over 100 international awards including the Grammy Award and three Tonys. The beloved story, which revolves around the Land of Oz, delves into the friendship between the good and bad witch, before Dorothy even came along.
