Live Nation Entertainment announced the acquisition of Chilean promoter DG Medios this week – one of Chile’s top independent concert promoters.
The deal was confirmed amid Live Nation’s expansion across Latin America. Recently, the concert promoter giant acquired OCESA in Mexico, DF Entertainment in Argentina, and Brazil’s Rock in Rio. The Santiago-based company DG Medios sold more than 330,000 tickets in 2018 alone, Live Nation reports. Since its inception, the promoter has been behind tours for artists like U2, the Rolling Stones, and Paul McCartney.
DG Medios’ owner Carlos Geniso said in a press release that teaming up with Live Nation will give their company “access to resources that will be instrumental in growing our substantial roster of shows even further.”
“The DG Medios team and I are excited to provide even more memorable experiences for fans,” Geniso said.
Previously, Live Nation teamed up with DG Medios to promote tours in for artists like Bon Jovi, Bruno Mars, and Phil Collins. Following the acquisition, Geniso will still continue to oversee all operations. Live Nation CEO and president Michael Rapino said in the release that the company is “thrilled” to be in business with Geniso, noting that DG Medios is “another important step in expanding our footprint across Latin America.”
Upcoming events promoted by DG Medios include Maroon 5 in February, Backstreet Boys in March, and Billie Eilish in June. See the full list here.
