The holiday season brings its usual good fortune to Radio City Music Hall, sitting at No. 1 in TicketNews’ exclusive venues rankings for the week ending Sunday, November 20.
This is Radio City’s second week at the top, as families and fans make their annual trek to New York City to see the colorful Radio City Christmas Spectacular. The show is clearly bringing top holiday receipts on the secondary market, hitting at No. 1 in TicketNews’ Top Broadway rankings, No. 2 in the Top Theater rankings and No. 3 in this week’s Top Combined Events rankings.
A clear mover in the rankings this week was Broadhurst Theatre at No. 4. The theater, which hosts the very popular Hugh Jackman Back on Broadway, jumped into the Top Venues rankings last week when it finished at No. 7. The show, which has Jackman singing a collection of his favorite musical numbers, opened November 10 to positive reviews.
In at No. 3, Madison Square Garden (MSG) in New York City is benefiting from dates by top musical acts, with both Taylor Swift and Bob Seger arriving in the coming weeks. While the NBA lockout keeps its Knicks idle, MSG can still rely on ticket sales for the popular New York Rangers of the NHL.
Likewise, at No. 6, TD Garden in Boston, MA, also has a mix of top musical performers and NHL play helping to keep revenues up. Both the Watch the Throne tour and holiday favorites the Trans-Siberian Orchestra make their way to the Garden this week. In addition, the Garden’s own reigning Stanley Cup champs, the Boston Bruins, continue to enjoy strong sales on the secondary market.
