Rising music star Adele has four Grammy nominations to her name and a largely sold-out winter tour. Now the British songstress has unveiled plans for a spring 2009 tour of the U.S., outlining a March 9 opening at the House of Blues in San Diego, CA, and a May 5 close-out at Roseland Ballroom in New York, NY.

Only 10 dates have been announced for the spring trek, but highlights include a March 14 concert at Warehouse in Houston, TX, a March 17 performance at Variety Playhouse in Atlanta, GA, and a March 18 gig at The Mercy Lounge in Nashville, TN. Presales begin today, December 18, at 10 a.m. EST.

The spring tour follows an 11-date winter jaunt. Tickets for the outing have moved fast on the primary market, selling out at eight venues. Due to the high demand, Adele’s January 29 concert at The Fillmore in San Francisco and January 30 gig at the Avalon in Los Angeles were upgraded to the Warfield Theatre and the Wiltern, respectively, where both shows subsequently sold out.

Adele is touring behind her January 2008 debut, “19,” which chronicles the singer’s life and relationships at the title age. The record initially hit the Billboard 200 at No. 56 over the summer before falling lower on the charts. But after Adele’s mid-October performance on a “Saturday Night Live” episode featuring former Vice Presidential candidate Sarah Palin, the album rebounded to No. 46 and surged to No. 11 the following week.

In addition to her successful record debut and tour, Adele recently received Grammy nominations for Best New Artist, as well as Record of the Year, Song of the Year and Best Female Pop Vocal Performance for the single “Chasing Pavements.” The awards ceremony is slated for February 8, 2009, at the Staples Center in Los Angeles, CA.

The up-and-coming singer thanked fans for their support on her MySpace blog. “You’ve made 2008 the best year of my life,” Adele wrote, continuing, “I really wasn’t expecting such an amazing response to ’19.’ I’ve had a few downs but had a lot of highs, and you lot are responsible for the good ones!”

According to published reports, a follow-up record is slated for 2009. Adele has already selected several songs for the album, as well as a producer whom she has declined to name, stating it would be “embarrassing” if the collaboration fell through.
