According to published reports, R&B’s reigning diva Beyoncé will return to the tour circuit in 2009. Though specific dates have not been announced, reports place the start of the tour in early spring with international and North American dates extending through the summer.

The planned 2009 tour will support Beyoncé’s forthcoming third solo album, a follow-up to 2006’s chart-topping “B-Day.” The former lead singer of ’90s girl group Destiny’s Child completed her previous solo tour in September 2007.

Beyoncé’s upcoming and still-unnamed project is due on November 18, but some reports have speculated that the album is behind schedule due to the singer’s Hollywood film projects and will be delayed. In addition to not having a name yet, the track listing is also still a mystery. However, the singer believes the album will make its production deadline and that any unresolved details stem from her thorough approach to the record.

“I have worked on this album for close to one year. I have taken the time so I can create my sound — something that says who I am at this stage in my life,” Beyoncé said in a statement on her official Web site. “It is the most time I have spent on any project since my first records as a member of Destiny’s Child when I was 15 years old.”

Only two tracks have been confirmed for the effort — “If I Were A Boy” and “Single Ladies” — and both are scheduled for an October 7 radio debut. The remainder of the disc may not be set in stone simply because producers have so many finished tracks to choose from.

“I have recorded over 70 songs and have created a sound that reveals all of me. I am in a different place right now and I wanted people to see the many sides of me,” Beyoncé explained in the statement. “I have taken risks here. I am not afraid and my music will explain it all.”

Since 2001’s “Carmen: A Hip Hopera,” Beyoncé has appeared in more than six movies, including 2006’s Oscar nominated musical “Dreamgirls.” She plays legendary singer Etta James in this year’s “Cadillac Records,” and also stars in the drama/thriller “Obsessed,” slated for release in 2009.
