Alternative rock group Big Head Todd & The Monsters (BHTM) will ring in the New Year with a series of special performances in their native Colorado before launching into a coast-to-coast winter tour. The trek begins January 28 at Horseshoe Casino in Council Bluffs, IA, and has dates booked through an April 11 concert at the new House of Blues venue in Boston, MA.

The nearly 30-date North American outing includes a February 5 concert at the Fillmore in New York, NY, a February 28 set at the House of Blues in Las Vegas, NV, a March 19 session at Richard’s on Richards Cabaret in Vancouver, BC, and a two-night stand on April 3 and 4 at the House of Blues in Chicago, IL. BHTM’s next performance is a New Year’s Eve show at Ogden Theatre in Denver, CO, followed by January 2-3 year-openers at Belly Up in Aspen, CO.

BHTM is touring behind its most recent release, 2007’s “All the Love You Need.” The band, which has released more than 10 live and studio albums since its 1989 debut “Another Mayberry,” still tours with its original lineup of frontman Todd Park Mohr, bassist Rob Squires, and drummer Brian Nevin, along with newcomer Jeremy Lawton who joined the group in 2004 and plays keyboards and steel guitar.

Though the band has largely fallen off the mainstream charts since their commercial successes of the mid-1990s, such as the Platinum “Sister Sweetly” from 1993, BHTM enjoys an extensive live following, especially in the Rocky Mountain region surrounding their home state. The strong fanbase is largely attributed to BHTM’s ever-evolving approach to rock ‘n’ roll.

“I’ve fought throughout our career not to be a one-trick pony, to be the kind of band that has depth and diversity in its catalogue,” Mohr explained in a statement on the band’s Web site. “I’m a fan of this band, and I’m constantly looking forward to what comes next.”
