When The Black Crowes begin their world tour on March 24, 2008, headlining at Byron Bay Festival in Australia, they plan to perform their first all-new studio material in seven years, the forthcoming album “Warpaint,” in its entirety. The band will also play songs from its catalog, along with selected surprises. The specific dates for the limited “One Night Only” tour will be announced in the future.

The band will be in Australia through April 5, the first time the Black Crowes have been to the continent since 1991. Following that trek, they will be performing special engagements in Tokyo, Amsterdam and London, and concluding with shows in Hamburg and Cologne, Germany.

“Warpaint” is being independently released on the band’s own newly formed Silver Arrow Records label and distributed through Megaforce/Sony Red BMG on March 4. Produced and mixed by Paul Stacey at Allaire Studios in Woodstock, NY, the album features 11 songs, all of which were written by Chris and Rich Robinson except “God’s Got It” by the Reverend Charlie Jackson.

The album also marks the recording debut of two new band members — guitarist Luther Dickinson and keyboardist Adam MacDougall — who join the Robinsons, drummer Steve Gorman and bassist Sven Pipien. Dickinson, of North Mississippi Allstars, officially steps in to replace producer/guitarist Stacey, whose position with the band was always intended to be temporary.
