Alt-rockers Blind Melon, which disbanded in 1995 following the untimely death of singer Shannon Hoon at age 28, when he was found dead on the band’s tour bus from an apparent drug overdose, has reformed with a new vocalist, Travis Warren, from Amarillo, Texas. The band is now ready to rock with some new music beginning Oct. 7 in Rhode Island. Ten club dates have already been booked.
In announcing its first concert dates in 12 years, guitarist Christopher Thorn said in a statement, “We are going to reconnect with our old fans and find our new fans.” Drummer Glenn Graham added, “We’re going to road-test the new album but we’re also going to play all the old songs that we love… the ones that gave us this opportunity.” Rounding out the band are Roger Stevens (guitar) and Brad Smith (bass). . .
Based in L.A., the band is probably best known for his its famous “No Rain” video featuring the infamous “Bee Girl.”
