British alternative rockers Blur, who broke onto the music scene in 1989 and has not performed together since 2000, are reuniting for two shows next year at the 50,000-capacity New Hyde Park in London.
After the band’s July 3 concert sold out within two minutes, Live Nation Music UK put a second show up for July 2, which sold out equally as fast.
Singer and head songwriter Samon Albarn, guitarist Alex James, drummer Dave Rowntree and bassist Graham Coxon had a string of hits in the 1990s, including “Girls and Boys” and “Parklife.” Their last album, “Think Tank,” was released in 2003.
Since leaving the group in 2002, Albarn has enjoyed commercial and critical success with Gorillaz, his hip-hop band, and has been involved in other side projects.
Prior to their sold out New Hyde Park shows, Blur has some secret gigs planned. There is also speculation that the group will headline Glastonbury Festival next summer, too.
