The timeless artistry of Judy Garland and the impact of her most dynamic performances will be the subject of a set of symphonic concerts by Boston Pops this month. The world premiere of “Judy Garland in Concert” will take place June 28-29 at the legendary Symphony Hall in Boston, MA.

Frank Sinatra and Elvis Presley have been the subjects of similar conceptual shows where the music of a deceased super star is combined with a live orchestra.

Judy Garland in Concert marks Garland’s debut with the Boston Pops and her return to the Boston concert stage after more than 40 years. In August 1967 she performed a free concert in Boston Common for 108,000 people. After the Boston performance, the show will embark on a worldwide tour, with dates to be announced. Tickets for the Boston Pops concerts are priced between $19 and $87.

Judy Garland in Concert uses cutting-edge technology to present the sights and sounds of Garland performing her greatest hits accompanied by the live orchestra performing the classic arrangements. Multiple screens above the stage will incorporate rare home movies, photographs and her own reminiscences to create a magical evening of unique entertainment spanning her entire life and career.

“I’ll never forget watching my mom perform,” said Judy Garland’s son, Joe Luft, in a statement. “The passion she brought to the stage, and the way she could captivate an audience. I believe Judy Garland in Concert captures that experience.”

“This is the great American songbook of the 20th century performed by the foremost interpreter of these songs,” added James Sanna, executive producer of Judy Garland in Concert. “In every respect, it’s the greatest Judy Garland concert ever. Audiences are in for an amazing one-of-a-kind experience that includes favorites like ‘Over the Rainbow,’ ‘That’s Entertainment,’ ‘Chicago’ and many others.”
