Fans now have two more opportunities to catch Bruce Springsteen & The E Street Band perform the final concerts at the old Giants Stadium in East Rutherford, NJ. Two final dates have been added on October 8-9 to the Boss’s planned run at the venue, which now stands at five nights.
Springsteen and his famous backing band were originally scheduled to perform an historic three-night stand at the stadium on September 30 and October 2-3 before the old venue closes at the end of the 2009 NFL season to make way for a new $1.3 billion facility.
General onsales for the two new Springsteen dates at Giants Stadium begin June 8 at noon (ET). Primary sales will be handled by Ticketmaster in an identical fashion to the first three shows. Face values will range from $33 to $98, and all field tickets will be general admission.
Earlier this year, problems encountered during Springsteen ticket sales in New Jersey landed Ticketmaster in hot water with the performer and state’s Attorney General Anne Milgram.
During onsales for Springsteen’s national tour, more than 2,000 complaints were filed in the state, alleging that fans were redirected to premium-priced sales on Ticketmaster’s secondary subsidiary TicketsNow before tickets sold out on the primary market.
A settlement required Ticketmaster to pay $350,000 in fees and hold a random drawing that would give “1,000 consumers who filed complaints” an opportunity to buy tickets for one of the Izod concerts held on May 21 and 23. It was at those concerts that Springsteen first announced the performances at Giants Stadium in the fall.
The New Jersey Division of Consumer Affairs logged only 60 complaints during the June 1 onsales for the three original Giants Stadium dates, which sold out in a matter of hours. New Jersey based site NJ.com reported that most of those complaints related to faulty countdown timers on Ticketmaster, which fluctuated erratically as customers waited for tickets.
